John M. Cox

John M. Cox is a member of the American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Dallas Bar Association, and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.  John has been involved in virtually every area of tort and personal injury litigation since working as a legal intern during law school.  His dedication, skill and ethical standards as a trial attorney were recognized by his peers after ten (10) years of practice, when he was awarded Martindale Hubbell's AV-rating as soon as he was eligible (in 1997).  That same year John began a long-standing recognition as a leading instructor and visiting/adjunct faculty member at numerous professional and educational institutes, including on faculties for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy at the Southern Regional Trial Skills and Southern Deposition Courses, which provide instruction and training to practicing attorneys in the skills of depositions and trial techniques. He has served on the visiting faculties of the LSU School of Law Trial Advocacy program in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (1997, 2015) instructing third year law students, the Emory University School of Law Trial Advocacy program in Atlanta, Georgia (1998-2001, 2005, 2006, 2008), instructing second year law students, the University of San Francisco School of Law Trial Advocacy program (2021) and on the Adjunct Faculty of the Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas in Trial Advocacy (2000, 2003, 2017-2022, 2025); and, at trial academies sponsored by the Texas Association of Defense Counsel (2009, 2012, 2013) and the Dallas Bar Association (2011, 2013, 2014). He is a graduate of Texas A&M (B.A. 1984) and St. Mary's Law School (J.D. 1987). He practices in the areas of complex/catastrophic personal injury defense, wrongful death and survival actions, products liability, premises liability, negligent security/criminal premises liability, professional liability and malpractice, pharmaceutical and mental health professional liability and malpractice, transportation/commercial passenger vehicle litigation (including cruise lines and bus lines), environmental/mold litigation, commercial litigation, and construction litigation.
